Solar FAQs
Required Area
1 KW of solar plant needs approximately 80 sq ft of shadow-free area. 
For MW Scale, the thumb rule is 3 acres/MW.
Realistic Generation
On average, 4.1 units/ KWp /Day, or around 1500 units annually with Fixed Tilt. Approx 4-15% Extra Generation with Bifacial Panels. Approx 20% Extra Generation with Single Axis Tracking MMS.
Weather Impact
Generation varies throughout the day with sunlight and also seasonally -typically max in April, min in August due to rains. No generation at night.
Power Cuts
Grid-connected systems don't generate during power cuts. Only OFF Grid/Hybrid systems with batteries work during outages.
Allowed Capacity
State-specific policies dictate the net metering percentage based on sanctioned load or transformer capacity, up to a maximum of 5MW permitted.
